Glen Roethel brings a fresh energy to the camp experience. He is the founder of the recently popular (now reformed) folk-rock harmony trio Gathering Time, and co-founder of, a website which presents news and commentary for the Folk, Roots & Singer-Songwriter communities. His influences include Folk, Rock, Heavy Alt, Reggae, Soul, Punk, Beach, Techno, Classical, and Pop. He teaches guitar, songwriting and performance at SummerSongs East and West (, and is known for his creative, fun multi-modal classes (which enrich players of all skill levels), plus legendary late-night jam-singalong-dance parties which ring out in the night after the evening coffeehouses and song circles have wrapped up.

He was a songwriter contest finalist for the Susquehanna Music & Arts Festival and a jury-selected performer at the 5th Annual Singer Songwriter Cape May festival. He saw his song “Namaste” featured in a multi-media exhibit at the Presidential Museum in Texas for three months, and his songs, “People of the Earth” and “Morning Prayer” published in New Thought songbooks for Unity Worldwide Ministries (“People of the Earth” was later published in the Hal Leonard Corp songbook, 101 Inspiring Songs: The Ultimate New Thought Fakebook).

In 2013, Glen received honors from the 30th Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (MASC), Songwriters’ Association of Washington, DC for three songs: “Sweet Cider” [Honorable Mention in the Country / Bluegrass music category]; “The Family Tree” [Honorable Mention in the Acoustic / Folk music category]; and “Dandelion Dreams” [Honorable Mention in the Open category]), plus three Posi Award nominations for his songs “Beautiful Now” and “Family” from his recent CD, Unfolding [Inspireline, 2013]. In 2014, a third song from his Unfolding CD, “Together” was also nominated for a Posi Award (Positive music).
